Summary: The distributed core network is a core network for future networks including IMT-2020, which builds on network units distributedly collaborating to provide the network functions of control space, user space, and data space, in which the network unit is a core network software unit consisting of atomic network functionalities on the basis of IMT-2020 core network functions. It is of important needs to research on distributed core network, which is market valuable for network operators, service providers, and end users with enhanced support of emerging technologies and energy efficiency. This Recommendation specifies the distributed core network for future networks including IMT-2020, in the aspects of general consideration, requirements, functional architecture, network function enhancements, procedures, security considerations, and use cases.
