Summary: With the process and popularity of 5G and IoT, many intensive service application scenarios are existed in the smart buildings. As the interface of data communication, the indoor signal distribution system plays a very important role on the processing of information system in smart buildings. On the other side, in order to adapt to 5G, the new digitization distribution system is widely used, which is more vulnerable to the influence of overvoltage. Due to the difficulty and complex of construction and fault removal, the stability of the indoor signal distribution system is concerned by the owner and user of smart buildings all the time. The purpose of this Recommendation is to give a guidance on the protection for the main configuration types of indoor signal distribution system in smart buildings considering of the lightning protection and safety. The selection of appropriate and feasible solution depends on the local circumstance and is helpful to acquire the best technology economy ratio.
