Summary: This recommendation provides the specification of the physical medium dependent (PMD) layer for wavelength multiplexed point-to-multipoint 10-Gigabit-capable passive optical networks supporting a maximum reach of at least 50 km with at least 1:64 split ratio per wavelength pair and operating at the nominal speeds of 10Gb/s downstream and either 2.5Gb/s or 10Gb/s upstream per channel on a wavelength routed ODN.
