Andy Quested started at the BBC in 1978 becoming a video-tape editor in 1985 working on many children’s programmes, documentary and comedy series including every episode of the comedy Keeping Up Appearances! He also worked on the introduction of non-linear editing, stereo and widescreen.
Andy introduced the technology for first HD and first UHD programmes, Planet Earth 1 & II. At the EBU Andy led the production strategic programme and continues to lead the EBU QC group.
As chair of ITU WP 6C, Andy initiated work on Advanced Immersive Media, AI, Energy Aware Broadcasting, Componentized Content and led the group that developed the 2023 Emmy winning HDR-TV standard. Andy co-chaired the group on the Future of Broadcasting and led the work on the Future of Broadcast Production.
