Leading Pillar 3—Warning Dissemination and Communication—of the Early Warnings for All (EW4All) initiative, BDT continued to help countries strengthen their early warning systems.

This year’s achievements include:

  • Thirty countries received support under EW4All.
  • Seven countries were assisted in developing and implementing National Emergency Telecommunication Plans.
  • Seven national cell broadcast feasibility studies were completed.
  • A regional cell broadcast feasibility study for the Pacific Islands was completed.
  • Eight countries received Common Alerting Protocol training.
  • Eleven national early warning systems roadmaps were created to outline the priorities, actions and partnerships countries need to strengthen early warning systems.

The Technical Expert Group on Mobile Early Warning Systems was established to bolster progress on warning dissemination and communication and foster experience-sharing and expertise-building in setting up and enhancing public early warning systems, last-mile communication, and resilience.

A global innovation challenge organized by BDT continued to drive AI-based solutions to close early warning gaps. Four finalists received support to pilot AI applications in countries under the AI for EW4All Subgroup.

An agreement with Intelsat brought FlexMove tools, connectivity, and training to help restore telecoms disrupted by disasters. The agreement marks a strategic collaboration to ensure rapid deployment of satellite communications in crisis zones worldwide.
