Regional Initiatives for Asia and the Pacific
EW4All consultations, CAP workshops, and National Emergency Telecommunication Plans training boosted preparedness in Bangladesh, Nepal, Kiribati, Solomon Islands, and Samoa. A masterclass at the Asia Media Summit in Cambodia highlighted cell broadcast technology for EW4All, with support from India’s Ministry of Post and Telecommunications and its Centre for Development of Telematics.
The Smart Islands Digital Hub workshop in Tamana, Kiribati, strengthened community resilience through improved early warning awareness.
Under the Child Online Protection initiative, 15 educators in the Federated States of Micronesia were trained and 40 Pacific participants were engaged in virtual sessions. In Nepal, over 170 people were trained via Girls in ICT. National Child Online Protection frameworks were developed in Brunei and Palau. Maldives held a training-of-trainers session in December.
The Asia-Pacific CyberDrill in Mongolia brought together over 200 participants from 18 countries, with support from international cybersecurity and law enforcement partners.
Readiness assessments for computer security incident response teams were conducted in Maldives, Palau and Nauru, as well as a maturity assessment in Mongolia, and a national cybersecurity strategy workshop in Palau.
Efforts to advance e-waste management and the circular economy progressed through stakeholder consultations in Indonesia, Thailand, and Mongolia, paving the way for policy development, regulatory frameworks, and the promotion of sustainable information and communication technology ecosystems.
Cybersecurity capacity-development activities were organized for Bhutan, the Philippines, and Thailand, as well as at the subregional level for the Pacific.
