AFR2: Implementation and expansion of broadband infrastructures, connectivity and emerging technologies

Capacity building and technical assistance was delivered to 42 countries under the PRIDA project.

The benchmarking of ICTs in Central Africa project has undertaken data collection across all 11 beneficiary countries. The data will inform recommendations and capacity building programmes tailored to the countries’ needs and priorities.

Under the joint digital transformation project with the Government of Uganda, supported by the South-South Cooperation Assistance Fund (SSCAF), deliverables have been developed and policy guidance provided on last-mile connectivity, big data applications and e-waste policy development. Capacity building and certified training have also been implemented across the areas covered by the policy recommendations.

In collaboration with the African Telecommunications Union (ATU) a webinar on the Early Warning for All initiative (EW4All) was held to provide an in-depth understanding of Pillar 3 of the initiative and equip participants with the knowledge and tools necessary to implement effective early warning systems.

With financial support from the United Nations Federal Credit Union (UNFCU) and in collaboration with the ST Foundation, a basic digital skills programme and coding course to 400 girls was delivered across 4 training centers in Senegal. This built on the African Girls Can Code Initiative and leveraged the ITU Digital Transformation Centre Initiative to empower youth and bridge the digital gender divide in Senegal.
