AMS4: Development of enabling policy and regulatory environments to connect the unconnected through accessible and affordable telecommunications/information and communication technologies that support achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals and progress towards the digital economy
Technical assistance in policy and regulatory matters, and support with technical knowledge was provided to Bolivia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, the Dominican Republic and Panama.
In collaboration with the Caribbean Telecommunications Union 14 countries were assisted on “Harmonised ICT Regulatory Oversight for the Caribbean” to help address barriers hindering economic growth and development in the region.
In collaboration with the government of St. Lucia, the National ICT Strategy was reviewed and updated to help St. Lucia realize its national agenda and vision through ICTs.
In collaboration with the government of Trinidad and Tobago and through a national e-ID programme (Digital Identity Act) , joint activities were carried out to foster greater social inclusion, public programs, broader engagement of citizenship, and more accurate economic planning, among other benefits.
