Supporting the development of Lesotho’s national cybersecurity strategy

The ITU Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT) collaborated with Lesotho’s Ministry of Information, Communications, Science, Technology and Innovation to strengthen stakeholders’ capabilities in the critical domain of cybersecurity. In June 2024, a tabletop exercise was conducted to guide national stakeholders in developing strategic approaches to cybersecurity governance.

The two key objectives were enhancing skills through educational reforms and establishing a national cybersecurity governance framework.

The session was opened by Mr. Khiba Masiu, Director of ICT at Lesotho’s Ministry of Information, Communications, Sciences, Technology, and Innovation, and attended by representatives of the government, private sector organizations, and academia.

The table-top exercise was followed by a meeting with decision-makers to outline the next steps and co-create an implementation agenda and approach. This collaboration has fostered a proactive stance toward emerging threats in Lesotho’s digital landscape.
