Digital Innovation Profile Co-creation advances innovation in Albania
In the current global landscape, digital is at the heart of transforming lives and reshaping societies.
The Ministry of Infrastructure & Energy in Albania in collaboration with ITU is developing the Digital Innovation Profile for Albania to help its stakeholders navigate through the innovation landscape of the country, close gaps in digital innovation, and build a dynamic and resilient ICT-enabled economy.

Stakeholders from various sectors actively participated in a recent Digital Innovation Profile Co-creation workshop organized by ITU in the capital city of Tirana. The sessions fostered a rich tapestry of perspectives from the public and private sectors; finance; academia; non-governmental organizations (NGOs); and entreprises, aiming to unlock the full potential of Albania’s digital ecosystem.
Brian Bilali, from the Project Innovation Centre, an NGO that works to drive innovation and entrepreneurship in Albania, said: “It was an exciting opportunity to gain insights and provide inputs for the multistakeholder Digital Innovation Profile Co-creation for Albania to emerge as the next digital leader in the region.”
Further Collaborations in Albania
In parallel to the workshop, ITU also held a series of bilateral meetings and high-level discussions-
with the Electronic and Postal Communications Authority (AKEP) to advance work on upgrading their broadband mapping systems;
with the Albanian Authority of Geospatial Information (ASIG) to enhance cooperation and discuss recent developments on satellite imagery and its application for national geospatial data; and
with the National Cyber Security Authority (AKCESK) to continue collaborations following the successful rollout of the Child Online Protection guidelines and other capacity-building activities in the country.
Additionally, meetings were held with teams from the European Union (EU) Delegation to Albania and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to discuss new mechanisms to drive action in digital transformation and digital agriculture.
