Mahmoud Swelam
Mahmoud Swelam is a Digital Forensics and Incident Response Engineer at the Egyptian Computer Emergency Readiness Team. He specializes in digital evidence analysis, cyber incident response, and threat intelligence, contributing to Egypt’s national cybersecurity readiness and resilience.
Mahmoud participated in the Tabletop Exercise and Cybersecurity Incident Simulation Exercise conducted by ITU Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT), a hands-on capacity-building training that brought together cybersecurity and digital forensics experts to expand their technical toolkit with new knowledge and techniques.
Beyond his professional work, Mahmoud is an active member of the cybersecurity community. He develops and maintains open-source tools to assist digital forensics practitioners worldwide, promoting accessible, community-driven solutions. His commitment to excellence has been recognized through distinctions in cybersecurity competitions, including first place at the ITU Global Cyber Drill 2025 in Dubai.

Mahmoud’s expertise spans digital forensics, malware analysis, and network security. He has supported numerous national and regional cyber investigations and plays a vital role in enhancing incident response operations and strengthening intersectoral cybersecurity collaboration.
