Leading Cybersecurity Policy Analysis and Online Safety Training in Maldives

The ITU Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT) led train-the-trainer sessions in the Maldives on child online protection and empowering young people and women in cybersecurity.

The two-day event in October 2024 drew about 60 participants representing 31 organizations, including government institutions, critical information infrastructure stakeholders, academics, and others.

The training was part of National Cybersecurity Awareness Month under the Cybersafe Maldives initiative. It was organized in collaboration with the country’s National Centre for Information Technology and the National Cyber Security Agency.

Other activities included a closed-door policy briefing for high-level cybersecurity policymakers in the Maldives. ITU highlighted key policy recommendations to strengthen the Maldives’ cybersecurity landscape using the Global Cybersecurity Index 2024 results.
