Terms and conditions
For participation in the consultation in the lead up to the SDG Digital
1. General Rules
- By participating in the consultation in the form of a survey (the “Consultation”) organized by the International Telecommunication Union (the “Organizer”), you (the “Participant”) hereby warrant that all information submitted by a participant is true, current, and complete.
- By entering the Consultation, the participant accepts the present terms and conditions.
- “Participant” refers to an individual at the age of 18-29 years old affiliated with government entities, private sector companies, civil society organizations, academic institutions, international organizations and technical communities. No purchase or payment of any kind is required to participate in this Consultation.
- To participate in the Consultation, you need to complete the survey which will be made available by the Organizer through the SDG Digital website.
- Participation in the Consultation is free of charge. Participants are not entitled to any compensation or to reimbursement of any expenses incurred.
- Participants’ submissions must be made in English.
- Participants’ submissions must not: (a) violate the intellectual property rights of third parties; (b) be illegal under applicable national laws and international law; or (c) depict or incite hatred, defame, abuse, harass, stalk, threaten a specific person or social group, incite violence or conflict, contain offensive content or violate the legal rights of third parties (including those of privacy and publicity).
- The results of the Consultation will contribute to composing a message from the youth and will be presented on SDG Digital. The message will be a synthesis of submissions received to the Consultation.
2. Copyright
All participants will retain the intellectual property rights on the contents of their submissions. However, by submitting information to this consultation, each participant grants the Organizer a limited, non-exclusive, global, royalty-free right and license to use, reproduce, communicate, demonstrate, make available for public, display and distribute the content of his/her submission for the Organizer’s marketing, promotional, informational and educational or awareness purposes, via printed or digital or online media, including the Organizer’s website. The participant hereby represents that he/she has the legal right to grant such license to the Organizer.
All submissions may be used by the Organizer to further the aims and work of the Organizer.
3. Data protection
In addition to the terms of the general privacy notice of ITU’s website, the following terms shall apply with respect to the collection and processing of your personal information by the Organizer for the consultation. You hereby provide your consent for the processing, including collection, use and storage by the Organizer of all personal information submitted by you in the survey (hereinafter, the “Participant Data”), which includes your first and last name, the name of the organization you are affiliated with, your email and your answers to the survey questions. Your personal information will be used and processed by the Organizer for the purpose of managing and facilitating your participation in the Consultation.
The Organizer will publicize your name, organization you are affiliated with and your submission (partially or fully) when composing the synthesis of submissions received as a message from the youth that will be publicly presented on SDG Digital.
The Organizer will be transferring your name, organization you are affiliated with and your submission (partially or fully) to the Boston Consulting Group, our partner, for shortlisting some of them to be included in the compilation of the SDG Digital report “SDG Digital Rescue Plan” which will be issued as a publication.
Furthermore, the Organizer may, only if you explicitly agree to it, also use email address to provide you with information about future consultations, competitions, upcoming events of the Organizer. In case of questions or concerns about the processing of your personal data, please contact ITU at academia@itu.int.
4. Other conditions
By participating in the Consultation, Participants agree to release and hold harmless the Organizer from and against any and all claims, expenses, and liability, including but not limited to negligence and damages of any kind to persons and property, infringement of trademark, copyright or other intellectual property rights arising out of or relating to their participation in the consultation and the content of their submissions.
The Organizer reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any submission which does not comply with the present Terms and Conditions.
Participants in the Consultation are not allowed to use the titles, acronyms and logos of the Organizer or other branding elements of ITU on material that was produced by them. Participants are also not allowed to use their submissions for purposes and aims inconsistent with ITU’s mandate and mission.
Nothing herein shall be considered to be a limitation or a waiver of the privileges and immunities of the ITU, which are specifically reserved.
The Organizer shall have the right, in their sole discretion, to abbreviate, modify, suspend, cancel or terminate the consultation without any future obligation, by notifying the participants via an announcement on the SDG Digital website.
