In a world too often marked by polarization and crisis, digital technologies remain one of the most powerful forces for unity and progress. From digital health solutions and AI-driven education to inclusive connectivity and e-commerce, the digital revolution is reshaping lives, economies and societies, connecting people in ways once unimaginable.
In this spirit, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) will convene Digital@UNGA during this year’s United Nations General Assembly, creating a space to spotlight digital cooperation across a range of activities and organizations. Evolving from the legacy of the SDG Digital events convened in 2023 and 2024, Digital@UNGA will elevate, showcase, and celebrate digital technologies as a force for good. Anchored in the outcome documents of the World Summit on the Information Society, and following the adoption of the Global Digital Compact in 2024, Digital@UNGA 2025 responds to the global call for action to ensure that digital transformation is inclusive, human-centred, and delivers for everyone, everywhere.
The Digital@UNGA Anchor Event, hosted by ITU and UNDP, will convene high-level participants, including government and industry leaders, civil society, international organizations and youth, and will take place on 23 September 2025, from 18:00 to 21:00 EST, in the Delegates Dining Room at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
Objectives
- Reaffirm digital technologies as a unifying force, capable of advancing inclusion, opportunity and dignity for all
- Showcase and celebrate impactful use cases where digital tools have directly improved lives, especially in healthcare, education, economic empowerment and public service delivery
- Announce new multistakeholder pledges through the Partner2Connect Digital Coalition, accelerating universal and meaningful connectivity
- Inspire future action through dialogue, expert insights and audience engagement, shaping what must be done today to ensure tomorrow’s digital landscape is equitable and empowering
- Celebrate changemakers advancing bold digital solutions
Programme
The programme will unfold through dynamic, high-energy segments that will:
- Elevate digital as a force for good and the role that digital can play in connecting everyone, everywhere
- Generate new commitments to advance universal connectivity and digital transformation, including the Partner2Connect Digital Coalition.
- Showcase visionary projects and initiatives delivering real-world impact.
Complementing the Anchor Event will be a full programme of Digital@UNGA Affiliate Sessions that will take place throughout the UNGA high level week, each showcasing and celebrating the power of digital. Details of the programme will be shared here soon. Check back regularly for updates.
