g4g @work at Cisco's Global Girls in ICT Day

On April 27, 2016 greenlight for girls (g4g) joined Cisco BeLux in inviting 30 girls from the g4g local region of Brussels aged 10-15 for an amazing opportunity to interact with Cisco role-model professionals! As an international organization, we encouraged and introduced young girls to the possibilities of a future career in tech by engaging them in interactive workshops and giving them a glimpse into a day in the life of a Cisco professional. 

At Cisco, the girls experienced three fun and hands-on ICT driven workshops including Arduino electronics – which gave the girls an opportunity to build their own creations, like traffic lights, and control the physical world via sensors and actuators, a custom-made Cisco workshop called "I'm a Router" where the girls discovered the basics of routing protocols and the logic that guides networking devices by building connections across the globe, and "The Martian" Telepresence Technology – yet another custom-made Cisco workshop inspired by the movie "The Martian". Here, the girls got to experience first-hand how cool cutting edge technology connects Cisco employees around the globe and how Mark can signal to his colleagues back on Earth from Mars!

Finally, girls went through the Cisco TAC Lab Tour that takes you through an amazing visit of one of Cisco's largest labs, with tons of cool gear that can replicate any customer network in less than four hours. At the end of the day, they even became Cisco Certified Future Engineers (CCFE)!
