Oracle Academy and Department of Technical Education

Students from Goa Engineering College and 3 schools of Goa in the age group of 14 to 21 years participated. Ms. Maria Chaudhary, Principal Engineer, CIE, Oracle conducted a session on 'Careers in Computer Science'. It was an interactive session, during which she shared her first hand experience as a women in technology from Goa and asked the girls about their future aspirations and hopes for their careers and gave them some valuable advice.
This was followed by a hands-on session on Alice, an innovative 3D programming software created by Carnegie Mellon University and funded by Oracle Corporation. It was the first exposure to computer programming for most of them and they had a thoroughly engaging time creating animated movies. We hope that through this effort we will be able to encourage more girls to take up computer science and coding as a career option in the future.
