Get inspired by our vision

Our vision is to create a state-of-the-art work and conference environment – so staff, members, delegates and visitors can meet, network and work in a smart, sustainable, forward-looking and fit for purpose setting. An environment fit for the Union’s mandate to connect the world. Imagine the work environment of the future, including hybrid work, enabled by the ever-more integrated use of technology. A work environment enabling collaboration, partnership, transparency, and diversity to flourish. Help us create a Headquarters of choice!

Where will the new building be situated?

HQ building

The new building will replace the Varembé building, inaugurated in 1962, facing the iconic Place des Nations at the heart of International Geneva. Just a few hundred meters away, the United Nations is building a new visitor centre. Since 1948, ITU is headquartered in Geneva. While locations and names have evolved, ITU has been at the centre of technology advances since the dawn of the first telegraph network in the 19th century. Read ITU’s history here.

Why donate or sponsor?

Your contribution will be essential items to ensure we remain fit for purpose in our mission to connect the world. Leaders and thousands of experts from around the world meet every year at ITU Headquarters to discuss the future of ICTs, so there is no better place in the world to showcase the latest technology and modern work solutions your country or company has to offer!

What will you get?

Sponsors and donors will be recognized at a high-visibility location in the new building. Furthermore, they will be featured on the website of the new Headquarters project. We are extremely grateful for all sponsorships and donations received for the new Headquarters to date. See sponsors to date.

Who can donate?

Any ITU member, or third party, can sponsor or donate. Individual Member States and Sector Members can sponsor individually, or jointly. Donations are integrated to the temporary new building fund.

All expressions of interest should be sent to the Deputy Secretary-General of ITU.
