Oracle Academy organized a half day of ICT 4 Girls event on May 2nd 2014 in Kuala Lumpur at the Universiti Teknologi MARA supported by representative from Oracle Women Leadership (OWL) Malaysia. This event was a career seminar with the objective to share with students on the women prospect and career growth in ICT industry. Representative from OWL was invited to share her experiences and thought to motivate these students. There were around 84 students and 4 lecturers attending the event.
The event was opened by Puan Zatul Amilah, lecturer of Universiti Teknologi MARA and Ms Farah Mohamad Fu'ad, Program Coordinator Oracle Academy gave welcome remarks and some overview on Oracle Academy and ICT 4 Girls event. It was followed by a career talk on Women in ICT by Mrs Rakhisah Mat Zin, Enterprise Architect – Government, Education and Healthcare, Oracle Malaysia. She also shared information on the initiatives from Oracle Malaysia to encourage women in ICT.
During the seminar, girl students eagerly asked questions from the guest speaker. They were also excited to complete their studies in ICT and some of them shared their career plans and sought for advice from the guest speaker. The event received positive feedback from organizers and girl students who attended felt encouraged.
