Summary: Currently, vBNG universally adopts an architecture that separates control-plane and user-plane, centralizing the control plane in cloud-based deployments. Depending on the type of services carried, the user plane may be deployed in a cloud-based manner or on dedicated hardware. Additionally, to meet requirements for elastic scalability and enhanced reliability, resource pooling is implemented. As vBNG supports multiple services and the number of user connections continues to grow, it also needs to fulfill differentiated SLA quality-of-service guarantees. Efficient operation, maintenance, and management of vBNG pose a challenge. This specification will propose the management and control architecture for vBNG control plane and user plane under the separation of control and forwarding, as well as the requirements for northbound interface bearer protocols, signaling, interface types and key functions for interactions between the management system and vBNG.
