This Technical Report describes the considerations of the Architectural Framework for knowledge-based semantic communications over Public IMT Networks. It is intended to serve as guidance for related standards work and deployments of semantic communications.
The Technical Report first introduces the concept and scope of knowledge-based semantic communications, sets out system considerations and requirements, describes the construction and capabilities of the Semantic Knowledge Management Function together with its architectural framework, outlines an end-to-end workflow showing how semantic communications work for public IMT Networks, and addresses privacy and security, including safeguards and related requirements. Together, these elements provide a baseline architectural view intended to support future standardization work on semantic communications.
