Summary: DPI (Deep Packet Inspection) device is a system that performs network traffic inspection, interacts with a policy decision function, and identifies applications and flows. The functions of DPI Functional Entity are defined in ITU-T Y.2770. Currently, operators have relatively comprehensive requirements for DPI devices, mandating functional and performance testing prior to the devices being put into service. This Recommendation outlines the test content and corresponding requirements to be considered during DPI device testing.
