Summary: The power system utilizes IoT-based electric power infrastructure to collect, aggregate, and distribute IoT data, which is used to enhance the digitization and intelligence of energy and electricity, has become a development trend. Due to the large number of systems in the power industry, each system needs to build a corresponding module for identification, authorization, authentication, etc., to ensure the security of the process, resulting in a high complexity as a whole. Therefore, a unified authentication service for data collaboration is required. The unified authentication service is deployed between entities and power information systems, and can be deployed in a centralized way for better efficiency or distributed way for security issues. It unifies a set of security polices, technologies and interfaces. Specifically, it receives various requests from different entities, i.e., users or devices, makes decisions by identification, authentication, authorization and access control, convert data format of protocol and such to adapt for target systems, distribute them to destinations and return information to entities. Thus, there is no need to build permission control capabilities within each system, avoiding redundant construction. In terms of data interaction between the entities and the power information system, due to the numerous systems in a power grid and the different security polices of each system, which can easily lead to security risks such as data leakage. A unified authentication service unifies security policies, so as to improve the security of the whole system. This draft new Recommendation specifies a framework of unified authentication service for data collaboration.
