3. Justification for the specific reference:
This standard specifies sound dose measurement, and the alerts associated, to reduce the risk of listeners developing hearing impairment when using a Personal Music Player (PMP). The standard does not cover exposure from other sources than PMPs. H.870 (ex F,SLD) defines dosimetry, or sound dose measurement, in harmony with this standard. This standard CENELEC EN 50332-3 is one of the essential standards that H.870 is built on. H.870 defines recommendations on safe-listening based on the measurement method specified in this standard.
