The Continua Design Guidelines architecture uses HL7 Healthcare Monitoring Reports (PHMR). The purpose of HL7 CDA-PHMR is to describe constraints on the HL7 Clinical Document Architecture (CDA) Header and Body elements for Personal Healthcare Monitoring Report (PHMR) documents mostly containing analysed and raw information of data generated by personal healthcare monitoring devices such as glucometers, BP cuffs, thermometers, weight scales, etc.

Second release (Release 1.1) of the Draft Standard for Trial Use (DSTU) for Personal Healthcare Monitoring Report in the HL7 Clinical Document Architecture (CDA) was issued in October 2010. After the comment period of 24 months, the document is expected to progress into a Standard phase based on comments received.
