En la Recomendación UIT-T J.298 se describen los requisitos y las especificaciones técnicas de un descodificador híbrido para televisión por cable compatible con la transmisión de señales de televisión terrenal y por satélite. El objetivo principal de la Recomendación es especificar los requisitos mínimos y fundamentales de un descodificador híbrido (STB) que se ajuste a las necesidades de todos los países y regiones en desarrollo. Dicho descodificador híbrido incorpora todas las funcionalidades de los servicios tradicionales de radiodifusión por cable basados en la Recomendación UIT-T J.83, e incluirá asimismo funciones de recepción de radiodifusión por satélite o terrenal, con objeto de que el STB pueda recibir servicios de radiodifusión por satélite o terrenal. También deberá incluir funcionalidades fundamentales de servicios de vídeo interactivos basados en IP para que el STB pueda soportar los servicios interactivos más recientes basados en el protocolo Internet (IP), junto con los servicios por cable y satélite/terrenales establecidos. |
