Summary of WP1/16 Questions Results (reviewed 16 November 2023)

Question 11/16

Since the previous SG16 meeting in July 2023, no interim meetings were held for Question 11/16.

Question 13/16

Question 13/16 met once online, 7-9 November 2023 chaired by Associate Rapporteur Mr Chuanyang MIAO (ZTE, China) and reviewed three contributions on current work items including F.IPTV-VRSReqs and H.IPTV-OpMcast. The Question agreed to start one new work item, ITU-T F.IMTS-reqs "Requirements and framework for integrated multimedia transport service". No items were completed for Consent. One incoming liaison statement was reviewed but no reply prepared at this meeting. Q13/16 plans to meet again in January 2024, before the next SG16 meeting in April 2024.

Question 21/16

Question 21/16 met once online, 13-15 Nov 2023 under the chairship of Mrs Liang Wang (ZTE, China) assisted by Ms Miaoqiong Wang (CAICT, China) and Ms Nijingnan Zhang (China Unicom, China) with 42 participants over the three days. The Question progressed work based on ten contributions received for six work items: F.CEMP-DHS, F.MFDreqs, F.CAR-reqs, F.DTP-Reqs, F.CUAV-ES, H.MPSTech. Two new work items were proposed at this meeting, however the submitters were asked to refine their proposals and resubmit at the next SG16 meeting. Q21/16 experts supported the decision to transfer F.CUAV-ES "Framework and requirements for emergency services using civilian unmanned aircraft vehicles" to Question 27/16, in line with the decision taken at the SG16 meeting in July 2023. Of the four work items considered for Consent, three of them were successful for submission to the virtual meeting of WP1/16 (16 November 2023): No outgoing liaison statements were prepared. Q21/16 plans to meet again in January 2024, before the next SG16 meeting in April 2024.
 

Question 22/16

Since the previous SG16 meeting in July 2023, no interim meetings were held for Question 22/16.

Question 27/16

Question 27/16 met two times in the interim period.

Question 27/16 met online, 5-6 September 2023 chaired by the Rapporteur Mr Hideki YAMAMOTO (OKI, Japan), assisted by Associate Rapporteur Mr Hongki CHA (ETRI, Korea). The group reviewed three contributions on current work items including F.VG-VRU (Requirements for vulnerable road users service using vehicle gateway), H.VMMA-FCR (In-vehicle multimedia applets: Framework and capability requirements), and H.VM-VMIA (Vehicular Multimedia Implementation Aspects) and the report of the previous Q27/16 RGM (Geneva, 10-21 July 2023). No incoming LSs were reviewed. The Question did not start any new work items at this meeting. The group agreed to meet again online, 16-24 October 2023.

Question 27/16 experts met online, 16-24 October 2023. The group discussed seven contributions. The six contributions in them are on the four current work items including F.VSAI-ARCH (Functional architecture of multimedia communication enabled vehicle systems using artificial intelligence), H.VMMA-FCR, H.VM-VMIA, and F.VG-VRU. One contribution proposed a new work item F.Sup-Overview-FC (Overview of requirements for ICT-enabled flying car service platform). The group also discussed the reports of the previous Q27/16 RGM (Online, 5-6 September 2023) and the draft text of Q27/16 in SG16 (Geneva, 10-21 July 2023), and a TD for F.VGP-RDSreqs. One incoming LS was noted. The group agreed to propose two texts for Determination, ITU-T F.749.7 (ex F.VGP-RDSreqs) "Requirements for remote driving service based on vehicle gateway platform" and ITU-T H.552 (ex H.VM-VMIA) "Implementation of vehicular multimedia systems", and one text for Consent, ITU-T F.749.8 (ex H.VMMA-FCR) "In-vehicle multimedia applets: Framework and capability requirements". At this 2nd RGM, the Question agreed to start work on new Supplement ITU-T F.Sup-Overview-FC New Overview of requirements for ICT-enabled flying car service platform. A draft LS was prepared informing groups of interest of the start of approval process for these three texts, which was dispatched as SG16-LS142 after the decisions by WP1/16.

Q27/16 plans to meet again in an additional RGM (Online, February 2024) before the next SG16 meeting in April 2024.

Summary of WP2/16 Questions Results (reviewed 22 November 2023)

Question 23/16

Question 23/16 met online, 20-21 November 2023 chaired by the Rapporteur Mr Hong (Norman) Chen (BUPT, China) and assisted by Shizhong Xu (University of Electronic Science and Technology, China). The meeting reviewed the three contributions received that addressed ongoing work items. During the meeting, the ongoing work items were progressed based on the contributions received. No outgoing liaison was produced, no new work items were proposed at this meeting, and no texts were proposed for Consent. Q23/16 plans to meet again in January 2024 (pre-approved by SG16 in July 2023), before the next SG16 meeting in April 2024.

Question 24/16

Question 24/16 met once online, 7 November 2023, chaired by the Rapporteur, Miran Choi (ETRI, Korea). The Question received four contributions that addressed ongoing projects, F.IF-SLM (for Consent), F.RHUD-IV, F.UIES-req and F.CSDH, whose existing drafts were updated based on the discussions . The Question agreed to submit draft new ITU-T H.862.7 (ex F.IF-SLM) "Interoperability framework for sleep management services" for Consent at the WP2/16. No new work items were proposed and no outgoing liaison statements were prepared. Q24/16 plans one additional meeting before the next SG16 meeting in April 2024 (already agreed by SG16 in July 2023).

Question 26/16

Since the previous SG16 meeting in July 2023, no interim meetings were held for Question 26/16.
 

Question 28/16

Q28/16 met once online on 26 September 2023 chaired by the Rapporteur, Mr Masahito Kawamori (Keio University, Japan). It reviewed eight input documents, and completed two texts for Consent at the WP2/16 meeting: ITU-T F.780.5 (ex F.TMonRDH) "Requirements, reference framework and use cases for telemonitoring systems in rapid deployment hospitals" and ITU-T H.861.0 (V2) "Requirements on communication platform for multimedia brain information". No new work items were considered, no outgoing liaison statements were produced. The Question plans to meet next in January 2024 to progress its work items, in particular the join work with WHO on safe listening for videogaming and esports, back-to-back with a workshop.

Summary of WP3/16 Questions Results (reviewed 14 December 2023)

Question 6/16

Question 6/16 met for six sessions during 16-19 October 2023 in a coordinated fashion with a meeting of the JVET, which met during 13-20 October 2023 in Hannover, Germany, in coordination with a meeting of the various MPEG working groups (WGs) and advisory groups (AGs) of ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC29. The Q6/16 meeting was chaired by the Rapporteur Gary Sullivan (Dolby Labs, US), with the assistance of Associate Rapporteurs Yan Ye (Alibaba, China) and Thomas Wiegand (Fraunhofer HHI, Germany). Approximately 70 people attended the two non-joint Q6/16 meeting sessions, and the other four sessions were held jointly with JVET, SC29/WG2 (MPEG Requirements), SC29/WG4 (MPEG Video), SC29/WG7 (3D Graphics and Haptics), and SC29/AG5 (MPEG Visual Quality Assessment). ​

These following Q6/16 goals were successfully achieved: Two incoming liaison statements were considered by Q6/16, and a reply was sent to one of these from Q6/16 to JPEG and the other was deferred for JVET to reply to 3GPP SA4. One additional outgoing liaison statement was sent to DICOM WG32 to follow up on a prior reply that had been sent from SG16 in July 2023, and an additional liaison statement was sent to MPEG Audio that was not a reply.

A Call for Evidence on the coding of biomedical waveform data was issued at the meeting and also posted on the SG16 website and on the VCEG archive site.

It was agreed to submit two texts for Consent by WP3/16: It was agreed to start a new work item, following start of DIS in ISO for draft revised common text Recommendation ITU-T T.800 v4 | ISO/IEC 15444-1 Ed.5, "Information technology - JPEG 2000 image coding system: Core coding system".

Question 8/16

Question 8/16 met once in Geneva, 11-13 December 2023 chaired by the Rapporteur, Mr Hideo Imanaka (NICT, Japan), assisted by Associate Rapporteurs Messrs Jiro Nagao (NTT, Japan) and Hoerim Choi (KT, Korea). Q8/16 discussed five contributions and several input liaison statements. The meeting was held in Geneva with remote participation of 19 experts attending. As the result, draft Recommendations H.IIS-FA, H.ILE-AMR and H.ILE-QR (former H.ILE-QM) were updated according to the discussion results of contributions, and no items were proposed to start the approval process. Based on feedback and requests received from SG12, the A.1 justification for existing H.ILE-QM was revised to adjust its scope, and the acronym was changed to H.ILE-QR. No new work items were created, and no existing items were discontinued. The RGM agreed to send a reply outgoing LS to ETSI ISG F5G on immersive live experience (SG16-LS147). The RGM prepared one draft reply LS to SG12 (pending approval of the updated A.1 justification for H.ILE-QR, ex H.ILE-QM), which was dispatched after WP3/16 review as SG16-LS148.

Q8/16 experts will meet next during the SG16 meeting in April 2024. Q8/16 plans to finalize the draft H.IIS-FA at the SG16 meeting in April 2024.
 

Question 12/16

Q12/16 met once online on 11 December 2023 with the main objective to review two texts planned for Consent. Overall, 48 experts attended this meeting and reviewed two contributions addressing texts for Consent. Two texts were submitted for Consent by the WP3/16 meeting: H.626.6 (ex H.VSBD) "Architecture for big data application in video surveillance systems" (New) and F.743.24 (ex F.BVSSI) "Scenarios and requirements for DLT in video surveillance system interworking" (New). There were no new work item proposals at the RGM and it did not prepare any outgoing LSs. The Question plans on meeting next in Xi'an, China, 29-31 January 2024 (plan already pre-approved by SG16 in July 2023) jointly with Q13/16 and Q21/16.
