ITU is organizing an ATU-ITU Seminar on the outcomes of WTSA-12 and WCIT-12 jointly with the African Telecommunication Union (ATU). The Seminar will take place at the International Convention Centre in Durban, South Africa from 10-11 July 2013.
The following ITU workshops will take place at the same venue: (i) A one-day Workshop on "Countering and combatting spam" on 8 July 2013 and (ii) A one-day Workshop on “Environmentally Sound Management of E-waste” on 9 July 2013. Both events will also be hosted by the Department of Communications of South Africa.
This Seminar aims to brief participants on Resolutions, Opinions and ITU-T A-series Recommendations approved by the World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA-2012) and the updated International Telecommunication Regulations (ITRs) and the overall achievements of the World Conference on International Telecommunications (WCIT-2012) held from 20 to 29 November 2012 and from 3 to 14 December 2012 respectively in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It will further provide an opportunity for participants to have better understanding of the outcomes of those conferences and to facilitate their implementation.
Telecommunication/ICT experts and officials of Africa Region from ATU and ITU membership, e.g., telecommunication operators, venders, service providers, Administrations and Regulators.
