Summary: Telecommunication devices and equipment can use non-linear limiting or linear attenuating or both types of function to mitigate surges occurring on services. Isolating transformers attenuate common-mode voltage surges on a service. This recommendation gives test methods and preferred values for the isolating transformer surge parameters that are harmonised with established International standards on insulation coordination levels and test techniques.
