HIPSSA Project - Global Activity (G-1) Regional Harmonization in Sub Sahara Africa: Comparative Study of Regional Initiatives

The present study represents the achievement of the first activity conducted in December in Addis Abeba under the project supporting “Harmonisation of ICT Policies in Sub-Sahara Africa” (HIPSSA).

The objective of this project is to increase harmonization of ICT policies and regulation for the whole Sub Saharan Africa region.

AU Summit

HIPSSA Project - First Steering Committee Meeting
12 March 2009 (Addis Ababa, Ethiopia)

The main outcomes of this meeting are: (i) a co-chairmanship shared between the African Union Commission (AUC) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), (ii) an assessment of the current situation, (iii) a new graphical tool in order to validate the methodological approach and the list of topics, (iv) on the basis of this analytical chart, the Committee’s members endorsed the detailed list of activities to be implemented in West Africa, Central Africa, Eastern Africa and Southern Africa.
