ITU Asia-Pacific Centres of Excellence

A part of ITU ACADEMY

A key mechanism for delivering education, training and information in the regions is the ITU Centres of Excellence (CoE) network of partners specializing in telecommunications and ICT training. Now with a growing network of over 60 nodes, it is a global cooperative network of institutions and partners sharing expertise, resources and ICT capacity-building know-how.

In the Asia Pacific region, the CoE network comprises of eight nodes established to offer training programs on specific telecommunication/ICT themes. These include policy and regulation (Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, Pakistan); spectrum management (Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, Iran); rural ICT development (Universiti Utara Malaysia, Malaysia); technology awareness (Pusan National University, Rep. of Korea); business management (Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, Thailand); broadcasting (Asia Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development); ICT applications (Viettel) and Cybersecurity (IMPACT). Each node acts as a focal point for a theme and cooperates to deliver high quality specialized training courses with a number of partners – including policy makers, regulators, industry and academia.

Twenty seven (27) face-to-face and eighteen (18) e-learning courses have been held since its start in mid 2007, benefiting over 1500 participants. The training courses delivered have received very good feedback from participants.
