ITU Regional Workshop on Transition from Analogue to DTTB |

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is organizing a regional workshop on
“Transition from Analogue to Digital Terrestrial Television Broadcasting (DTTB)”, to be held in Bangkok, Thailand
on 2 March 2012.
This event is joingly organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission
(NBTC), Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) and Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD) with support from Korea
Communications Commission (KCC); and is organized back to back with the
ITU Asia Pacific Centres of Excellence Training on the same subject from
27 February - 1 March 2012.
The ITU ASP COE Training (27 Feb - 1 Mar 2012), aims to build knowledge on status of DTTB migration in the Asia-Pacific region, country experiences
on building national roadmaps for transition to DTTB, migration experiences for various digital terrestrial television standards and
international practices on Digital Dividend while imparting skills on development of national roadmaps for transition to DTTB and planning
Analogue Switch Off (ASO). The course will provide participants with necessary theoretical background, practical experiences, concrete
exercises and hands-on practice so that they develop an in-depth understanding of the key strategic issues involved in this area. The
provisional agenda is placed at Annex 1a.
The Asia-Pacific Regional Workshop (2 March 2012) aims to discuss the recently developed guidelines for carrying out on smooth transition
from analogue to digital broadcasting in the Asia-Pacific region, share experiences of countries on developing national roadmaps and
brainstorm on the way forward in its implementation . The provisional agenda of the workshop is placed at Annex 1b.
The ITU ASP COE Training and the Regional Workshop is addressed to Policy Makers, Regulators, Broadcast Engineers, Corporate Executives and
Managers, Administrators and Officials dealing with migration from analogue to digital broadcasting.
Participants are invited to download and print the documents needed for the event. For further information, please feel free to contact Mr.

To register for this training workshop, participants are kindly requested to complete the attached registration (Annex 2) and send it to
the e-mail addresses indicated in the form, by 15
February 2012 at the latest. Hotel reservations can be made using the attached form
(Annex 3b) directly with the hotel with information to the host Ms. Umaporn Chansivanont (umaporn_beau@hotmail.com).
For ease of reference, useful information for participants is attached in Annex 4. Please be informed that no training fee is being applied for
this workshop. The ITU is pleased to provide the Daily Subsistence Allowance (DSA) to Least Developed Countries (LDCs) for the events under
the framework of ITU KCC project and in accordance with the ITU rules applicable. Applicants requesting for fellowship are required to
submit the fellowship request form (Annex 3a) duly signed by their Administration together with the registration form no later than
31 January 2012.
However, we reserve the priority to those who have already submitted the
fellowship form since November 2011 and will require only an email to reinstate
their applications before due date.
Those participants requiring an entry visa to Thailand are requested to contact their local Embassy of Thailand for information well in advance.
