Krisdabhiniharn
Dance
By students of Setsatian School for the Deaf, Under the Royal Patronage of His
Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn
'Krisdabhiniharn Dance' (Blessing Dance of the Central Part of Thailand) is one
of the Thai Classical Performance. This dance is performed on the auspicious
occasion. All angels and devas are delighted in the occasion and come to dance
together with joyful and blessing to all people. This dance is performed by the
deaf students, who are trained to perform dancing using inner sense of timing
for specific dance. Some dancers who have some residual hearing may pick up cues
from the music to assist them in knowing where they are supposed to be in a
dance, but mostly with countless hours of practice and counting all the
movements in a dance step, they can perform harmoniously with music and their
group. |

Taste
of Indian Classical Music
By Ms. Nirmita Narasimhan
India has a very rich cultural tradition. Classical music which has been handed
down through centuries is manifested today in two vibrant systems - Hindustani
(which is prevalent in the north) and Karnatic (which is prevalent in the
Southern parts of India). Nirmita is an exponent of the Karnatic system of music
and has been performing on stage since 1995. In today's programme, she will
render some musical compositions having different structures' rhythm and meaning
and are in different languages. The compositions are in praise of different gods
and goddesses. It is hoped that the audience will enjoy the aesthetic experience
of listening to Indian classical music. |
