Esteemed colleagues,
Ladies and gentlemen,
It is a great pleasure to welcome you to this Network of Women in ITU-D session here at GSR-26.
As we navigate an increasingly complex digital frontier,
one shaped by AI, emerging technologies, data governance and rapid innovation,
regulation has never been more important.
But equally important is who helps shape that regulation.
Women regulators are not only contributing to digital policy discussions.
They are helping lead them.
They are bringing vision and expertise,
and unique perspectives that are essential to building digital futures that are innovative, safe and inclusive for all of us.
The real promise of digital transformation is not simply about advancing technology.
It is about ensuring technology improves people’s lives,
expands opportunity,
and leaves no one behind.
That is why this conversation matters.
Today’s dialogue is a chance to hear from influential leaders,
both women and men,
who are at the forefront of shaping regulatory strategies on the defining issues of our digital future,
from innovation and trust to inclusion and equitable consumer protection,
helping ensure ICT products and services work for, benefit and protect all people, everywhere.
We will explore how regulatory and policy frameworks can integrate inclusive, accessible and gender-responsive approaches,
and promote resilience and inclusive digital ecosystems,
including in emerging areas such as AI.
We will also discuss our work to advance women’s leadership and influence in regulatory and digital governance spaces.
Through the Network of Women in ITU-D, we seek to amplify women’s leadership in the development sector,
strengthen collaboration, peer exchange and collective action for impact.
I am sure this session will inspire new ideas and new partnerships,
as well as renewed commitment to ensuring women continue to shape the digital frontier,
not from the margins, but from the centre.
I thank our distinguished speakers for joining us today,
and I look forward to a rich and engaging discussion.
Thank you!
