DiploFoundation & Geneva Internet Platform
DiploFoundation is an independent non-profit organisation established in 2002 by the governments of Malta and Switzerland. Our mission focuses on empowering small and developing nations to assert their influence in global diplomatic discussions. To achieve this, Diplo:
- Offers online, blended, and in-person courses to help diplomats, government officials, and other actors develop the skills and knowledge needed to navigate the digital age.
- Conducts research on a wide range of topics related to internet governance and digital policy, including cybersecurity, data governance, artificial intelligence, and the impact of technology on diplomacy.
- Pioneers solutions at the intersection of diplomacy and technology. Our DiploAI tools combine expertise in diplomacy and global governance with innovative AI, and are designed to assist professionals in tasks such as drafting, reporting, and negotiation, while also inspiring critical thinking, innovation, and collaboration.
The Geneva Internet Platform, launched in 2014 as an initiative of Swiss authorities and operated by Diplo, aims to strengthen Geneva's role as a digital hub while providing a neutral and inclusive space for digital policy debates. The platform hosts the Digital Watch observatory – which monitors and analyses trends in digital policy and governance, and maintains a Digital Geneva Atlas – which maps digital policy actors in International Geneva. The GIP also focuses on supporting diplomats to engage more effectively in global digital governance processes, for instance, through delivering regular briefings and facilitating diplomatic dialogues.
