At present,digital technologies are rapidly applied, driving human society into a digital-intelligent era. The digital divide among countries, regions and groups still exists, with gaps in digital infrastructure, tech application, digital skills, governance capacity, and guarantee of law-based cyberspace governance. Strengthening digital capacity-building is vital to promote inclusive digital development.

The proposed workshop aims to gather representatives from governments, international organizations, think tanks, enterprises, industry associations to share digital governance insights and effective practices of digital development and governance, and explore how to achieve digital empowerment for sustainable development, enhance the well-being of humanity, and jointly build a community with a shared future in cyberspace through strengthened digital capacity-building, exchanges and cooperation.

Key discussion topics include:

1.Opportunities and Challenges of Digital Capacity-Building: Analyze the profound impact of digital technologies on the information society and emerging tech trends, as well as their  new requirements for capacity-building in innovation-driven growth, industrial development, security safeguards, digital and law-based cyberspace governance.

2.Pathways for Digital Capacity-Building and International Cooperation: Share best practices in digital capacity-building and governance via interactive sessions, explore concrete measures to boost governance efficiency, safeguard digital security, narrow digital and intelligent divide, advance inclusive development, and enrich information society governance approaches.

Since 2015, WSIS has been committed to shaping an inclusive, equitable and secure global information society, with a core goal of closing the digital divide and realizing shared digital benefits for all. Aligned with this long-term vision, this session echoes the development priorities set for 2025. By sharing experience in digital capacity building, advancing practical cooperation and jointly exploring governance pathways, this session answers WSIS’s call for coordinated global digital development and unites stakeholders to drive inclusive digital progress. It helps translate the vision of balanced digital progress into tangible actions, facilitates the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, and contributes to building a community with a shared future in cyberspace.
