WSIS women and girls trendsetters and action plan

WSIS

Session 320

Monday, 6 July 2026 11:00–11:45 (UTC+02:00) Physical (on-site) and Virtual (remote) participation Room E, ITU Varembé Building Women and Girls in Digital Interactive Session

The Women and Girls Gender Trendsetter Session champions a bold vision for a digital future where every woman and girl can participate fully, safely, and meaningfully. Building on the WSIS+20 reaffirmation of gender equality as a cornerstone of the information society, this session confronts persistent gender digital divides, the disproportionate risks women and girls face online, and the structural barriers that limit their digital agency. It elevates the call for action reflected throughout the WSIS+20 Review: ensuring equal access to digital technologies, expanding opportunities for skills development, eliminating all forms of technology‑facilitated violence, and embedding human rights at the heart of every Action Line. Through dialogue, co‑creation, and youth‑driven leadership, participants will shape a forward‑looking agenda that positions women and girls not only as beneficiaries of digital transformation but as trendsetters, innovators, and decision‑makers driving the next era of global digital development.
