IGF 2025: ITU Call for Inputs on the WSIS+20 Review

This session will take place in Workshop Room 6, in Lillestrøm, Norway.

This session, organized by ITU and South Africa, will be chaired by Ms. Cynthia Lesufi, Chair of the ITU Council Working Group on WSIS&SDG, invites stakeholders to share their perspectives on ITU’s contributions to the WSIS+20 review. The discussion will address key areas, including progress and challenges since the Geneva Plan of Action, the alignment of the WSIS Process with the 2030 Agenda, and the future of WSIS beyond 2025. The session will highlight on the implementation of WSIS over the past two decades.

Ms. Gitanjali Sah
Ms. Gitanjali Sah Strategy and Policy coordinator International Telecommunication Union (ITU)

Gitanjali Sah is an experienced International Civil Servant and has worked with several United Nations Organizations like ITU, UNESCO and UNDP in the field of ICT on Development related policy and implementation issues at an international, regional and national level. At present she is working with the International Telecommunication Union and is focussed on the coordination of global digital UN Processes like World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) and others to achieve the internationally agreed development goals.

 

She has an MPhil in Development Studies from the University of Cambridge, UK and a Masters from the Jawarhar Lal Nehru University, India.

Ms. Renata Figueiredo Santoyo
Ms. Renata Figueiredo Santoyo Telecommunication Regulation Expert Anatel, Brazil

Renata Santoyo (born in February 8, 1980) is currently working with International Affairs at Anatel, the Telecommunications Regulator in Brazil, where she is also a government officer since 2005.
She is graduated in law with specialization in Telecommunications Regulation by the University of Brasília (UnB), by the National Telecommunications Institute (INATEL) and has Master’s degree in Roman Law and Contemporary
legal systems (Università di Roma Tor Vergata).
Over almost 18 years in Anatel, Ms Santoyo has served as Legal Specialist in in Satellite Regulation Management (March 2005 - March 2006); Legal Specialist in Engineering and Product Certification (March 2006 - August 2009); Deputy Chief of Internal Affairs (August 2009 - May 2013); Legal Advisor in the Certification and Numbering Management (May 2013 - Dec 2015); Legal Advisor to Counselor Otavio Rodrigues (December 2015 - March 2016); Specialization Standardization Coordinator in International Affairs (March 2016-2017) and as Telecom Expert in International Affairs from January 2020 until now.
She was also Chairman of Anatel's Ethics Committee (2007 - 2013).
She speaks English, Italian and Spanish.


Dr. Swantje Jäger-Lindemann
Dr. Swantje Jäger-Lindemann Head of Division for Multilateral Digital Policy and Multi-Stakeholder Processes Ministry for Digital Transformation and Government Modernisation of Germany

Dr. Swantje Jäger-Lindemann is Head of Division for Multilateral Digital Policy, G7, G20, 
OECD and Multi-Stakeholder Processes in the just recently established Federal Ministry for 
Digital Transformation and Government Modernisation of Germany.

She has joined the Government of Germany in 2005 and has since then worked in various 
fields including International Health Policy for the Federal Ministry of Health and European 
Commission in Geneva. Furthermore she has a long track record in the G7 and G20 processes
and European Affairs from the time she worked in the German Chancellery.

She joined the former Ministry for Digital and Transport in 2023 and has since then been responsible for 
Multilateral Digital Policy in various fora. She is also covering Internet Governance, including 
the broad field of Multi-Stakeholder-Processes.

Dr. Swantje earned a doctorate in law and completed her studies at the Universities of Rostock, 
Geneva and Bonn.

Mr. Yoichi Iida
Mr. Yoichi Iida Special Policy Adviser Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, Japan

Yoichi Iida is Special Policy Adviser to Minister at the Japanese Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications. 

He has been long engaged in the international policy discussions at G7, G20 and IGF, as well as through bilateral dialogues. In 2016, he chaired G7 ICT WG meetings. In 2019, he chaired G20 Digital Economy Task Force meetings and led the discussion toward adoption of “G20 AI Principles”, drawn from OECD AI Principles. He was elected as the Chair of Committee on Digital Economy Policy (CDEP, current DPC) at the OECD in November 2019. In 2023, he chaired G7 Digital and Tech WG and Hiroshima AI Process WG covering global AI governance.
