The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) process has been multi-stakeholder since its inception, fostering a collaborative approach to shaping the global information society. From the initial Summits in Geneva (2003) and Tunis (2005), to the annual WSIS Forum in Geneva, and the Internet Governance Forum (IGF), the emphasis has always been on bringing together governments, the private sector, civil society, academia, international organizations and technical communities.
