Ideathons for the SDGs towards the 2030 Agenda
Fundación Cibervoluntarios
Session 350
Civic Technology for the 2030 Agenda
Ideathons for the SDGs is one of the lines of action within Empodera.org x the SDGs, an ecosystem of collective intelligence and a collaborative tool that help institutions, companies and civil society generate concrete actions and initiatives through social innovation processes, in order to achieve the SDGs of the 2030 Agenda, linked to the WSIS action Lines. Empodera.org is an initiative of Fundación Cibervoluntarios, and counts on the support of the United Nations, through an agreement signed in September 2018, on the 3rd anniversary of the 2030 Agenda.
The main lines of actions are three:
-2030 Competences: Programme for the acquisition and certification of digital competences on entrepreneurship and innovation, to achieve the SDGs of the 2030 Agenda.
-Ideathons for the SDGs: Marathons of ideas to involve civil society in searching for creative solutions and developing concrete actions to address needs posed by civil society to achieve the 17 SDGs. More info on https://ideaton.org/
-Empodera Impact: Showcasing projects and people who use technology for the social good, through a website, an annual publication and event (EmpoderaLIVE)
These actions are based in a procedure created by academic experts and a tested methodology that counts on the certification of Fundación Cibervoluntarios.
In this workshop we will explain the methodology, technology and innovation processes of the Ideathons, and four speakers of previous editions of EmpoderaLIVE will share their projects and insights about the 2030 agenda.

Mauricio, is the founder of Faircap.org, a social company that designs products to address clean water shortages. The first product is the Faircap Mini, a portable, reusable scrubber that can be screwed into plastic bags and can remove bacteria such as E.Coli.
The access to potable water is a human waste, but nowadays more than 800 million people drink water without treating and more than 3,000 million can not drink the water directly from the tap, which produces an increase in the sale of bottled water and the amount of 500 billion plastic bottles of only one use worldwide . We believe that open technologies and a collaborative model can help to solve the basic needs of thousands of people.

The programme itself is very focused on Goal 17th, as it involves different stakeholders from all levels in order to create a collaboration space where to create sustainable initiatives, that can be replicated and scaled.
