Specific services to empower women entrepreneurs, helping them bridge the digital divide
Andalucia Emprende Fundación Pública Andaluza
Session 248
Great progress has been made in social and economic integration in recent decades. However, some gender differences still survive that make it difficult to recognise women´s contribution to the social, cultural and economic development of our communites.
When it comes to business, the gap between women and men is wider. Especially, in a key sector such as the ICT, it is necessary to let the presence of women in productive spaces show and highlight their ability to lead projects and add value.
Women-led business projects in general and, particularly, in new technologies, remain in the background and, when it is not the case, success stories are considered exceptional. This vision hinders the development of high-impact businesses for women, despite their potential, because there has not been a sufficient reinforcement and support of female talent.
For this reason, female entrepreneurs need specific services for the implementation and development of their business initiatives, that is to say, useful services to address the barriers they encounter in the entrepreneurship process, especially those arising from the cultural and social context. In short, services that allow women to take advantage of their own skills and abilities and apply them to develop their business projects.
From Andalusia Emprende, we want to strengthen women's entrepreneurship in strategic sectors such as the ICT. We promote networks made by public organizations and private companies, like the ones of ‘Extraordinary and Digitized’ with Cibervoluntarios Foundation, or ‘Gira Mujeres’ with Coca-Cola European Partners.
This session will focus on the keys to the design of useful services for women entrepreneurs in order to overcome the digital gap. We will discuss their barriers, opportunities, needs and demands. We will also talk about the training and acquisition of digital skills, plus initiatives that contribute to generating community and interconnection between women entrepreneurs and female companies.
