Assistance to Arab Technoparks and Incubators Network

Project No 9RAB19028
Title Assistance to Arab Technoparks and Incubators Network
Description

The World Telecommunication Development Conference 2022 stipulated five priority areas of work for ITU in the Arab States Region under the ARB Regional Initiatives (RI). The ARB RI4 is titled “Building capacities and encouraging digital innovation, entrepreneurship and future foresight” to build capacities, increase awareness of the culture of innovation, future foresight, and entrepreneurship among all groups of society, in particular youth, and empower women in order to harness telecommunications/information and communication technologies (ICTs) to drive economic projects and activities that focus on providing job opportunities and supporting small and medium enterprises.

In this context, the objective of this project was to provide the assistance to the Arab Innovation and Entrepreneurship Network (AIEN), previously known as ARTECNET, and to develop cooperation and business exchange between innovation ecosystem stakeholders.

The project wields a significant influence within the incubator and technopark community, with a particular focus on its impact on the AIEN community. It played a pivotal role in delivering expertise, training, and fostering knowledge sharing.

The soft-landing program stands as a pioneering initiative in pan-Arab cooperation, setting the stage for delivering these essential services to startups across the region. The execution of its pilot phase is poised to open up many opportunities for startups and SMEs in the region.
