Title Laying the foundation for VaMoz Digital
Description The project aims to strengthening the enabling environment for inclusive digital transformation through institutional capacity development for policy and regulatory stakeholders, digital skills training and targeted actions to foster a vibrant digital innovation ecosystem in Mozambique. The project ‘Laying the foundation for VaMoz Digital!’ is a component of the joint EC-ITU-AICS “VaMoz Digital!” project which aims to contribute to Mozambique’s inclusive growth focused on digital transformation. 
Throughout this, the enhancement of digital skills and the strengthening of the Mozambican digital ecosystem are key. Fundamental to ensuring progress towards achieving those results is a review of the policy and regulatory frameworks, their strengthening as required, and facilitating access to affordable and accessible digital infrastructure. This project contributes to the implementation of the EU Digital Agenda (COM(2020) 67 Final) and the African Union’s Digital Transformation Strategy for Africa in general.

Achievements
This project aims to contribute to harness human centric digital transformation for sustainable development and inclusive growth in Mozambique. Specifically, the project is already advancing in: 
- Strengthening and improvement of the digital enabling environment for accelerated digital transformation across all sectors. 
- Strengthening and improvement of policy and regulatory frameworks, as well as institutional capacity of the government bodies responsible for digital transformation and other relevant stakeholders. 
- Developing capacities on a digital innovation ecosystem approach and strengthening digital innovation ecosystems for priority sectors in Mozambique. 

Core to the implementation of activities is national ownership, human-centered and inclusive design, institutional collaboration with a wide range of national stakeholders and partners, cross-sector fertilization and fostering peer-to-peer learning across national government institutions and agencies and across developing countries is as important as the transfer of knowledge from developed countries.
