Title CIRT Establishment in Bahamas
Description

The main goal of the project is to assist The Bahamas, to assess their current cybersecurity capabilities, to develop its national cybersecurity strategy and to establish its National Computer Incident Response Team (BS-CIRT), to serve as a trusted, central coordination point of contact for cybersecurity, aimed at identifying, defending, responding and managing cyber threats.

ITU to assist The Bahamas in building and deploying the technical capabilities and related training necessary to develop its national cybersecurity strategy and to establish its National Cybersecurity Incident Response Team (CIRT). By extension, this project is expected to increase the national cybersecurity capacity while moving forward on enhancing regional and international collaboration.

Achievements Expected results:
- Perform a CMM assessment and deliver the corresponding report. 
- Perform a national CIRT readiness assessment and deliver the corresponding report. 
- Develop a National Cybersecurity Strategy and its action plan. 
- Implement a functioning National CIRT that will provide its constituents with an initial set of cybersecurity services (Information Security Event Management, Information Security Incident Management, Vulnerability Management, Situational Awareness, Knowledge Transfer)
- Human capacity building in the field of cybersecurity and train the future CIRT staff on CIRT operations and incident response
- Enhanced national expertise on cybersecurity and reduction of the human capacity gap in cybersecurity.
- Improved national preparedness on the identification, prevention, response, and resolution of cybersecurity incidents (preliminary assessment and post-implementation assessment required).
- Building an effective/efficient capable national CIRT that is ready to respond to cyber-attacks targeting the national critical information infrastructure. The national CIRT to be the trusted advisor to The Bahamas Government on matters concerning cybersecurity.
- The national awareness training programs developed to ensure improvements in cybersecurity procedures, to defend and protect infrastructures and government agencies.
- Increased ability to enact effective security measures and instill mature responses when such real threats occur

Performance indicators:
- At least staff from five (5) critical governmental entities learn about the requirements for cybersecurity domains alignment delivered under CMM undertakings
- Commitment on the implementation of the National Cybersecurity Strategy developed.
- 1 National CIRT established and put into operation by the end of the project.
- 3 Government officials trained to manage the national CIRT.
- 1 document: Roadmap developed and agreed by the beneficiary country on the building of a national culture of cybersecurity as a part of the national cybersecurity strategy within the framework of the national CIRT enhancements.
