ITU-T H.552建议书规定了实现车辆多媒体系统（VMS）的基本要求，其中涉及四个主要问题：
–连通性，为车辆环境提供基本的标准参考和具体的性能要求；
–人机界面，处理语音助手（VA）和听觉交互需求；
–媒体格式和控制，为VMS提供不同类型媒体的标准参考；
–智能手机信息娱乐助手，提出了智能手机和VMS之间的接口架构要求，以及提供公平用户体验的性能要求。
两个附录提供了VMS实施指南：
–无线局域网（WLAN）的射频性能标准以及WLAN和无线个人区域网连接的用户性能测试场景；
–实施诊断界面，用于调整VA功能。
