El amplio despliegue del sistema de supervisión de infraestructuras de energía eléctrica basado en la Internet de las cosas (IoT-EPIMS) ha mejorado la inteligencia y la digitalización de los sistemas de energía. Sin embargo, debido a la naturaleza desigual de los sistemas, la idoneidad y el rendimiento varían mucho cuando se supervisa un evento específico, lo que dificulta la aplicación eficaz del sistema de supervisión. La construcción de metadatos de un sistema de supervisión de infraestructuras de energía eléctrica basado en la IoT puede mejorar eficazmente la gestión de datos y las capacidades de aplicación, y hacer que los servicios energéticos sean más transparentes, inteligentes y avanzados en las ciudades inteligentes.
La Recomendación UIT-T Y.4609 presenta metadatos de inventario para el sistema de supervisión de infraestructuras de energía eléctrica basado en la IoT.
