مع استمرار تحويل تكنولوجيا المعلومات والاتصالات (ICT) في المؤسسات إلى الحوسبة السحابية واستمرار نشر أجهزة الاستشعار الصناعية المتقدمة وتطبيقات الواقع الافتراضي (VR) والذكاء الاصطناعي (AI)، تزداد الحاجة إلى إرسال المزيد من البيانات من فروع المؤسسات وفرادى المستعملين إلى المنصة السحابية لمعالجتها، مع ضرورة توفير نتائج الحسابات بسرعة من أجل للحصول على تعليقات وتعاون بشأنها. وتتطلب جميع هذه التطبيقات إرسال كميات كبيرة من البيانات عبر الشبكات من طرف إلى طرف. وينبغي أن توفر الشبكات من طرف إلى طرف وظائف جديدة لدعم التطبيقات التي تتطلب إرسال كميات كبيرة من البيانات.
وتقدم هذه التوصية لمحة عامة عن التطبيقات التي تتطلب إرسال كميات كبيرة من البيانات وتحلل خصائص التطبيقات المشتركة وتحدد المتطلبات ذات الصلة لشبكات الاتصالات المتنقلة الدولية-2020 (IMT-2020) وما بعدها. ووفقاً للمتطلبات، تُحدد وظائف الشبكة المعززة ووظائف الشبكة الجديدة لدعم التطبيقات التي تتطلب إرسال كميات كبيرة من البيانات فيما يتعلق بوظائف شبكات الاتصالات المتنقلة الدولية-2020 وما بعدها المحددة في التوصية ITU-T Y.3102.
الملاحظة 1 - تركز التوصية على تحديد مواصفات المتطلبات ووظائف الشبكة من منظور الشبكة من طرف إلى طرف ولا تهدف تحديداً إلى تناول كيفية تنفيذ وظائف الشبكة هذه، بما في ذلك عبر التكنولوجيات أو البروتوكولات الحالية و/أو المستقبلية. ومن المتوقع أن تقوم منظمات أخرى معنية بوضع المعايير (SDO) بتطوير تنفيذ وظائف الشبكة هذه.
الملاحظة 2 - التطبيقات التي تولد كميات كبيرة من البيانات والبنية التحتية للشبكة التي تُنقل عبرها هذه التطبيقات مسؤولتان عن ضمان خصوصية البيانات بشكل مناسب. وتقع الجوانب المتعلقة بخصوصية البيانات خارج نطاق هذه التوصية.
