Promoting and Measuring Universal and Meaningful Connectivity Project

Universal and meaningful connectivity (UMC) is defined as the possibility for everyone to enjoy a safe, satisfying, enriching, productive, and affordable online experience.

To accelerate progress towards universal and meaningful connectivity, ITU and the European Commission (EC) joined forces in the context of a €3-million project “Promoting and Measuring Universal and Meaningful Connectivity, “funded by the European Union. The project officially started in May 2023 and is expected to run until 2027.

To track country progress towards UMC, ITU maintains a Dashboard for Universal and Meaningful Connectivity on the ITU DataHub.
