• Logging: This traces the execution of the applications and/or the systems of the platform.
            • Configuration: This allows access to the configuration of the systems and to change the execution
                parameters.

            • Operation, administration and maintenance (OAM): Processes and tools that allow the platform
to be operated, managed and maintained.

Figure 6 shows, as an example, two architecture models of a smart city platform.

            3.2 Enabling solutions

The city platform serves as a technological base for a multitude of enabling elements of the city's
digital transformation achieving its internal objectives, informed decision-making by policymakers,
and cost-efficient and effective city operations.

City platforms provide various enabling tools to satisfy different purposes:

            • The information systems of the different municipal departments are integrated into the city
platforms. This allows obtaining data of interest from each department, managing it from a
common repository. This information, in the form of KPIs, will serve for decision-making and
for the self-evaluation of the municipal department itself. All this information is displayed on
the dashboards for internal use by municipal managers.
