La Recommandation UIT-T J.1105 décrit les exigences relatives au service de commutation de canal sur un réseau hybride fibre optique/câble coaxial (HFC). Le système de radiodiffusion par câble a été modifié afin d'employer les ressources efficacement et de les transmettre de manière telle que les besoins variables des abonnés puissent être satisfaits aisément. Il faut donc définir les exigences relatives au service de commutation de canal afin d'utiliser la largeur de bande efficacement dans un environnement de réseau HFC.
