El presente anexo contiene descripciones de la modulación de amplitud en cuadratura (QAM) de 256 niveles para el sentido descendente y de QAM de 16 niveles para el sentido ascendente en la capa física. Estas funciones de modulación permiten que las redes de televisión por cable transmitan datos de programas a alta velocidad así como paquetes de protocolos Internet (IP). Sin embargo, el cambio más importante de este anexo revisado es una mejora de las descripciones de la capa de control de acceso a medios (MAC) para prestaciones con calidad de servicio (QoS), tales como voz por IP y vídeo por IP. La ampliación incluye la extensión del formato de trama MAC, la extensión para la función de control de calidad de servicio, la supresión de encabezamiento de cabida útil y la extensión de multidistribución. |
